Convinced Holmes had run his course, Conan Doyle built him a nemesis worthy of the ending (Professor Moriarty, the Napoleon of crime, a spider at the centre of a web covering all of London) and sent them both to the Reichenbach Falls. The public outcry that followed changed publishing history. Short, perfectly constructed mysteries, ideal for one-a-day listening, ending on the most famous cliffhanger in detective fiction.
