What is Peter Pan: Peter and Wendy about?
All children grow up, except one. Peter Pan flies in through the Darling family's nursery window hunting for his lost shadow, and flies out again with Wendy, John, and Michael, bound for Neverland: an island of mermaid lagoons, ticking crocodiles, jealous fairies, and the Lost Boys who need a mother. Waiting for them is Captain James Hook, the most elegant villain in children's literature, who fears nothing except the crocodile that has already tasted him.
But Barrie's narration is what makes the book so much more than the pantomime it became, sly, funny, and shot through with an ache the adaptations leave out, because the story knows what Peter cannot: that never growing up is a tragedy wearing a grin. It is a book written to be read aloud to children while saying something entirely different, over their heads, to the adult doing the reading. Heard as an audiobook, both stories arrive at once.

At roughly 48,100 words, Peter Pan: Peter and Wendy runs about 5½ hours at 1x narration speed. That figure is an estimate based on a typical narration pace. The exact length depends on the voice and the playback speed you choose.
